HAPPY 64TH BIRTHDAY ISRAEL!!! 
Israel gained it’s independence in 1948. This year Israel celebrates its 64th birthday of statehood on April 26th. The Hebrew name for Independence day is “Yom Ha’atzmaut”.
There will be many celebrations in Israel and all over the world to mark this joyful occasion. Here in South Florida, many will be honoring this special day by attending celebrations which include arts and crafts, entertainment, food, music and dancing.
“PREVENTING ACCIDENTS IN YOUR HOME” 
The most common and dangerous causes of injury are……FALLS.
HERE ARE SOME MEASURES YOU CAN TAKE TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FALLS IN YOUR HOME:
Remove scatter rugs or use non-skid tape or backing on throw rugs. Tack down the edges of all carpets. Never leave articles around beds, stairs or in hallways. Don’t use a doorway, halls or stairs for storage. Keep pathways clear of furniture, electric cords, space heaters, etc. Don’t rush when climbing up or down stairs. Stairs should have non-skid treads and a solid, easy to grip handrail. If you must climb use a solid step stool or ladder rather than a chair or box.
When carrying objects, make sure you:
Can see, get a firm grip and move slowly and evenly. Lift with your legs (knees bend, back straight) Ask for help with heavy or awkward objects.
Here are some GENERAL SAFETY TIPS:
Avoid wearing only socks, smooth-soled shoes or slippers on non-carpeted floors. Avoid wet floors-wipe all spills immediately. Keep kitchen floor free of grease and scraps. Household pets should be kept under control and out of pathways.
In the BATHROOM:
Be sure mats are non-skid and there are treads in the tub or shower to prevent slips.Install “grab bars”. Towel racks should NOT be used as grab bars as they are NOT secure enough to support body weight.

Passover celebrates the exodus from Egypt. Because there was no time for bread dough to rise, unleavened bread (matzoh) was eaten. The story is in a book used at the Seder called a Hagaddah.
Before Passover the house is cleaned. Special pots and dishes are reserved for use during this holiday. Traditional foods for the Passover feast include: gefilte fish, chopped liver, chicken soup with matzoh balls, turkey, brisket, and Passover sponge cake. Any foods with flour or yeast are prohibited. Passover lasts for eight days.

Pat Feldman, R.N., Director Of Nursing at Jewish Tradition Home Care attended the 55+ network meeting held on Dec. 15, 2011, at Classic Residence in Hollywood, FL.
As a Member Spotlight speaker, Pat Feldman took to the podium to tell fellow Network members about the unique services offered by the organization, including home health aides who are educated about Jewish religious and cultural customs, such as the preparation of kosher meals.
Pat also represented Jewish Tradition Home Care as the featured Network member in the Walgreens Community Resource Event on December 14 at the Walgreens located on 8790 West McNab Rd in Tamarac, FL.

Jewish Tradition Home care understands the need for everyone to combat Global Warming. To this end we are providing environmentally friendly tote bags to our Home Health Aides which are made of up to 20% post-industrial recycled waste and are 100% recyclable.
The Jewish faith has always valued preservation of natural resources (ie. rotating cultivation of fields, water conservation, holidays honoring nature and harvests such as Tu B’Shvat and Sukkot). Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) emphasizes “giving back” and the earth certainly needs our input at this time. As we all know, Israel is foremost in scientific endeavors to preserve water (from innovative water conservation techniques to being a forerunner in the research in the desalination process).
In addition, Jewish Tradition Home Care is an active participant in JNF Tree Planting. We also use Electronic Mail where possible in communication with client’s families when appropriate, and our RNs in the field. We are looking into paper free files and interoffice memos and will be encouraging our building management to initiate a recycling program.
